David's 4th Hussars WIP

I forgot to post these pics. My nephew David has finished half a regiment of the French 4th hussars using AB figures.

really like the look of the AB hussars, loads of character and the charging versions are particularly nice. The only down point is the officer with sword hanging from his arm. I believe there is a superior officer that you can purchase separately that can be added as a charging officer however we did not know that at the time.

Well done David and hopefully he'll paint the last 12 at some point! I've got a few regiments to paint myself at some point to.

  1. Extremely well done! The 4th is a favorite regiment of mine - painted my first version of them more than 40 years ago, and another about 20 years ago.

  3. Nice to see some French getting colour. I always like French (and pretty much all other) hussars uniforms.

    1. Yeah the Napoleonic hussars didn't mind wearing the colours of their enemies.

  7. Excellent inspiration. I was given a bargain on Wednesday when 12 of these figures were handed to me for nominal cost. Now I know what regiment I should paint them as.

  9. Impressive addition indeed.
I don't get why people don't paint whole units at once though!
    Be good, Jeremy

    1. Yeah they are nice JJ, I know. I think with YD it's partly as 24 seems a lot as he works from home a lot and also the club have been dabbling in Black Powder so he doesn't need the 24 full strength unit as much.

  10. Exceptional work, those ab charging hussars are lovely aren't they. I really like the 4ths uniforms, the blue and red with the yellow braid give a lovely splash of color for the French. I ended up going for the stationary poses for my hussars as I don't think AB do an elite company figure charging.

    1. Paul is correct there are AB elite hussars charging, IFC21 if ordering from fighting 15's in UK. I have them for my 1809 project, the 8th as part of Pires bgde, unfortunately another green unit.

  11. They are nice Ben, I think they have charging elite for the hussars Ben? I maybe wrong? I'll check my stash. No doubt they will be an order extra option, depends who you order from but I'd ask. You can swap in the superior hussar officer figure for the officer with sword handing from arm. I thought the same as yourself and bought standing. It was JB who put me right.

    1. You're right Paul, an do do a charging hussar elite. It's the chasseurs that don't have one, I was getting my light cavalry all muddled up. I've got one of the charging hussar officers which I'm going to use as Colonel Heymes for a Ney command base. I might have to go for charging figures for my next hussar regiment.
