If you have seen any of my recent posts you may have spotted that I'm taking part in a painting challenge. I'm chuffed to say I've been making good progress on the figures I have been working on. In the last post I showed a Silesian landwehr battalion plus some skirmishers I managed to complete and through the end of the month I managed to catch up with an East Prussian grenadier battalion that I had started a good while back so now I'm onto Silesian grenadiers.
I am continuing to make youtube vids as a record of my progress through the MMM challenge as it only takes a few minutes.
So this is my progress so far, East Prussians need a little work on some of the figures plus the bases need completed, I have made a steady start on the Silesians and since this picture I have now pretty much completed half of the battalion. A little work is still needed on the Crazy Platen command base then it will be ticked off however for the moment I'm concentrating on getting the troops painted and I'll do all the basing together at the end of the month (famous last words!)
My pictures aren't great with the dark shades however you can get an idea of how they are coming together.
I have been messing about with the highlights of the blues and still need to give the figures a couple of matt varnish coats.
Thanks a million to the guys over on the MMM group, the chats have been a great help in keeping my focus especially when I've been knackered after work. Also we attended the Falkirk Wargames Club show on 7th May, Carronade. It was a great show with plenty of traders and games on show and I'll post up a wee vid plus pics soon.
Hope everyone is enjoying the good weather yet still getting some painting and gaming in
Happy Wargaming!!!
Your pictures are good enough! I see some fantastic painted Prussians! The blue of the uniforms is just dark enough!

Thanks very much peter, I do want to keep the blue almost black but also want to add highlights.
DeleteGreat work as usual mate. The paint and chat system seems to work for quite a few people and it's certainly bringing results from what I see on FB. The videos are useful too. Keep'em coming!
ReplyDelete;O)
Great to hear from you Gary, yeah they are very helpful, most helpful when your cleaning the figures up or blocking in the base colours. When your knackered and don't want to do anything you get carried away with the chatting and before you know it you've cleared a whole lot of kit and a couple of hours have passed.
DeleteLooking mighty fine Paul!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Raymondo, been hoping that 1 or 2 of you Rejects might pop into MMM for a blether!
DeleteLoads of questions to ask you about yer armies and games.
DeleteThose look great Paul!
ReplyDeleteChristopher

ReplyDeleteRegards Gav .
Thanks very much Gav, very, very, very dark blue.
DeleteAwe ra best
Paul
Superb as always. Crazy Platen really coming to life and I've always loved your brown for the leather shoulder roll cover. Did grenadiers have fifers?
ReplyDeleteThanks Ru, I maybe make the leather work s little light but with the uniforms so dark I think it's ok. On fifer in the grenadiers, I'm just guessing, why, what do you know? Give me your information!!! Lol I've no idea, I just assumed they would have them.
DeleteGood thing you made me check! I had assumed fifers would be a fusilier/jäger thing with bugles, but it seems that grenadiers had drummers & fifers, fusiliers drummers & buglers and musketeers drummers & oboeists...at least in 1806...according to this tremendous website: http://www.napolun.com/mirror/web2.airmail.net/napoleon/Prussian_infantry.htm
DeleteI see where your coming from now Ru! Hadn't considered only the grenadiers having fife and drum, I Have add them to musketeers and grenadiers and the fusiliers get horn and drum.
DeleteI'll check the site out Ru.
Looking very good once again Paul - lovely work on those beautiful AB figures.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Carlo, not as exciting as colourful French or Saxons but I do enjoy them.
DeleteLooking good Paul! Can't wait to see the units finished up!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Samuli will be finished this month then I'll be jumping to something else. Maybe Saxons or 28's
DeleteGreat stuff Paul the unit is nicely coming together keep up the top work mate
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Stephen, plodding along nicely!
DeleteExcellent progress Paul!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Fran, there is 1 of our group giving away khurasan scifi troops for free, I've tagged Ray as he's in the MMM group as I think they are the same figures you use for your scifi? Can you tell him to take a look for you as I couldn't find you on Facebook anymore. It's just a little experiment about passing on troops we won't use and have had lying around our stash.
DeleteThey look great mate. That blue looks spot on.
