Some mixed WIP

It's been a while, I've had the urge to build and paint however life has been quite hectic. I have managed a wee bit of progress. I have 2 projects on the go at the moment.

Saxon light cavalry

I have around 13 finished now however I've jumped again.

As I have a whole lot of prussian artillery wagons on the go. Mostly the lovely Bluemoon vehicles with AB teams.

I've fallen in love with the little bluemoon wagons, a friend put me onto them and now I own Russian, French, Austrian as well as Prussian vehicles.
Here's hoping they do saxon soon!

OK that's me for the moment.
Happy wargaming!!!

  1. Gorgeous Saxon light cav! Love the red and especially the wolf's teeth edging. Bluemoon wagons? The wagon teams look to have an AB provenance. Are the horses AB or Bluemoon?

    1. Thanks Jonathan, I've used AB teams with bluemoon vehicles. Didn't buyou any bluemoon teams. I have always played to use only 2 pairs on my limbers so as I have spare teams.

  4. All good stuff. It's a shame the BM horses don't match up to the AB mounts because they do do some nice enough cavalry. The team drivers they make are pretty good. Anyway, on the great day I manage to get round to my teams, I think economics will drive me to BM.

    1. Hi Gary, I had collected a few AB prussian limbers already and thought 6 horse teams for storage and to prevent the Base from bending would be a little overkill. I always planned to make my own caisson if I didn't find any. Thankfully bluemoon have. I never looked at the bluemoon drivers I'm ashamed to say as I only wanted the wagons.

    1. Thanks Rodger, I was asked recently why I spend so much time on an army like the saxons? They are a great size, they were tough as old boots and look ace!

  7. Superb stuff Paul. Quality as usual. I hope to deploy my Prussian limbers soon! My great uncle told my father the Saxons were fearsome opponents on the Western front in WW1. He survived to tell the tale. Love your Saxon light cavalry...

  13. Beautiful work as always Paul. Gorgeous light cavalry, and the wagons look brilliant. What kind of wire do you use and from where do you source it?

    1. Thanks Craig, the wagons are sweet. I'll add stowage to the caissons once I get them further on. The wire is from inside a small alarm clock and I twisted a few strands together with a pin vice.
