Saxon Niesemeuchel Battalion Finished

I managed to finish off my 2nd battalion of Niesemeuchel for the 1812-13 period!

I really enjoyed painting these guys and have moved onto a combined grenadier battalion for 1813.

I thought the pics came out a lot better than they appear so will probably swap new ones in at a later date.

Figures are from AB with a couple of conversions.

The flag is from fighting 15's and is very nice, finishing off the battalion well.

I've added in my usual summer mix static grass plus flowers and tufts from Silfor.

I have the artillery bases finished off but I will show them when the guns are finished.

So onto the next battalion . . .

happy wargaming!!!

Marvelous, simply marvelous...

even the bases seem nicer - more vegetation than usual?

Marvelous unit, Paul. The Saxons are a fun and colorful army to paint, and they can be used with the French or against them (when press-ganged buy the Prussians, a habit started by Frederick and continued in 1806)

Exceptional painting mate, those Saxons are lovely. Any plans to do some Saxon cavalry?

Thanks Ben, much appreciated buddy. Cavalry are defo planned. Prinz Clemens uhlans, and polenz something. And the 2 detached heavies for borodino and maybe the hussars but I need to see the figures that will fit.

Thanks Kurtus, well the grenadiers will struggle with the holiday season coming up but I'm really looking forward to them.

Thanks Carlo, me to, they were incredibly unfortunate through the Napoleonic period and have 1 of the coolest uniforms.

Paulalba said...

Thanks Christopher,
Very much appreciated! But to be fair the uniform is one of those that stands out however you do it.

Many thanks Phil, I spotted some in your tables recently I think?

Paulalba said...

Thanks ken, I'm not sure? Maybe, I did kinda notice that the grass clumps are a little longer than my usual ones. I stocked up at the last show so maybe that's it?

Thanks Samuli! Glad you like them buddy!

Paul,
They came out great as usual.

Craig (Beresford) said...

Exquisite! GMB flags perchance?

Paulalba said...

Thanks John, I don't want to jump to far ahead of myself but it would be nice to get 1st a brigade then work towards another this coming year. The more Saxons you put together the better they look. It must be the white to facing colour ratio?

Paulalba said...

Thanks Craig, No they are AB flags. I bought th set a good while ago when I bought my 1st Saxons. I wasn't sure who did Saxon flags at the time and they do well. The Whites have just enough detail not to confuse the complicated patterned border and the colour are nice to.

Inspirational stuff Paul. You are putting me in mind to finish off the Spanish next year with all that white.

Cheers

Thanks Jonathan and just to even things up you had me considering bidding on AB Spanish militia on eBay last week! I resisted. Lots of unpainted Spanish and Portuguese about recently. Look forward to the Spanish!

Really nice stuff, Paul! I like the subtle variation of whites with undercoats and highlight colors. Very nice.

Thanks Mark, they were fun to paint. I'm well on the at with a grenadier battalion but feel the urge to start work on a light battalion!
