Prussian 6th Reserve

I managed to finish my 1st 2 battalions of the Prussian 6th reserve.

The 1st battalion are West Prussians with crimson facing colour.

To be honest the flag was a big mistake as it is crap looking but in the end I had to include it as 1 of the figures guns broke and I didn't have a spare so he is repaired and the gun is resting against the stiffened flag.

In the end they don't look too bad especially as I knocked them together really fast, the main thing is they are finished and ready to take the field!

I feel much better about my Silesian battalion as their lemon yellow facings make them stand out much more.

Also I lightened the grey of their uniforms much more than the West Prussians and it does help lift them.

Again the flag is poor but as I had included 1 in the 1st battalion I felt I had to give them 1 too. These figures would definately look better without a flag or with a flag from their parent regiment. I'll maybe switch them in the future?

So 2 down and 1 to go but I think it will be a long time in coming as I have a good few other figures I would like to do 1st!

There's nothing wrong with the flag at all, it's great and does helps the unit look complete.

Agree with Ray - Flag is absolutely fine.

What figs are your brave warriors?

You definitely have the painting style to paint these figures really well. How many Prussians are there now?

Thanks Ray and Kingsleypark I'll try and look more positively on the flags. It was pretty footery making sure the flags would fit well with the other bases. I think I probably should have drilled out the hands of a couple of troopers who were running and made them the flag men so everyone was in motion?

Thanks Dave and Sgt Steiner I'm trying to keep them clean and crisp so nobody notices when I cut corners by doing less shading than I usually do ;-)
The figures are Old Glory and I think the Prussian reserve are some of their best Naps (there are a few from the advancing set with shako and command thrown in to make the units look more unique.

Thanks Neil,
I'm slowly but surely getting there with my armies. Prussians I have finished 9x32man battalions (guard, line, landwehr, reserve) and 1x24man jager battalion as well as a load of loose jager, 2xartillery bat, and 2xcavalry plus command. I also finished 4x32man Minifig battalios with command artillery etc. I know it doesn't sound like a lot but when you add in the Bavarians, Russians (as well as some French I have done for my brother) I'm pretty chuffed with my wee armies.

Thanks very much for your comments and words of encouragment guys!
Regards
Paul

Hi Paul

"footery"

Thats one that will need translation across the pond and/or south of the border :-)

Flags look fine, mate. Don't beat yourself up about it; On the tabletop they'll look great together.

Great paint work as usual. I can't get over the detail you get on those tiny figures!

Paul, if you hadn't mentioned it in the text it wouldn't have brought anyones attention to them, they are outstanding looking and the flags only enhance the great look. well done!

Paul - another great paint job. I always think that you can never have enough Prussian Reserve troops on the table, when you're playing as the French player of course!

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement guys.

I am having a problem posting a reply comment so hopefully this will go up fine?

I'll keep the flags as is. I had planned to replace them when I eventually get some design software and make my own but I have plenty more figures to paint before hand. We (My older brother,my nephews and myself) plan on building up a good umber of forces so we can fight sections of big battles. If this happens or not only time will tell.

Thanks again.
