Prussian Brigade Commands

With a few Waterloo related games June has been a slow month for painting but thankfully I've managed to complete 2 Prussian command bases to join my army. A video is probably overkill for such small progress however I made 1 for my YouTube channel so I've added it here to:

And below are some pics of the bases. I have no idea why my shading on the uniforms is unseen in the pics and the shading on my grey horse looks so harsh? I guess I'll never make a photographer!

I don't think I need any more brigade commands for my infantry now however I'd like to do a couple more with landwehr officers as I will be adding 2 final landwehr regiments to my army.

They are mostly AB figures, the general had his saddle altered and stars added and has had a head swapped. The feldjager has had a satchel added to keep maps and important messages in for a little interest.

The general here is a battle honours figure from a set my buddy Malc sent up to me (cheers Malc!). He's the same figure from the AB set just a little finer in scale however it's hardly noticeable. The ADC is the regular AB ADC with his bicorne in a waterproof cover and a new hand.

And a rear view showing the satchel.

So that's it short and sweet as June comes to an end, I hope everyone got a little bit of Waterloo gaming in and I'm hoping in July to crack on with my 4th Silesians landwehr regiment. I have a load of troops on the way from Dan Dunbar so I've started work on the command figures to finish the battalions!

Awe ra best
happy warGaming!!!

Lovely as always, Paul, some real character there. I know I've asked before, but to what rules are you basing?

Thanks for taking the time to leave your comment Col.H much appreciated, when you mean how do you mean what colours? I paint the black 1st then block In the base shades for the final colour I'm aiming for say foundry prussian blue for the cost then use 1 or 2 highlights to reach the final result in each bit I'm working on. Is that what you were meaning?

Wonderful brushwork as always sir.

Hahahah, as a matter of fact I'm from Brazil, and Argentina is like our arch-enemies. It's like telling a british he's french, or vice-versa. You're threading dangerous ground there, mister. But, hey, some could say we're are much like our neighboors, just better at everything. :-P

Lol Mat sorry about that 😁 my good buddy married a lass from Brazil. They live over in NZ.

Which set are the guys pointing with their right arms from?

Col. Hertford said...

Many thanks for the reply, yes I was wondering if you layered. The foundry system is pretty amazing I have to say.

Paulalba said...

It's 1 figure from the prussian command set ive converted him a few times to make a landwehr officer and I think an artillery officer.

Paulalba said...

Yeah the foundry paints can be handy Col.H with 18mm figures you can skip the odd stage and ad a little light grey into the mid prussian blue to get a nice highlight.

What greens did you use?

Superb work as always Paul, inspirational stuff. I'd always thought of the late Prussian army as relatively bland, but with each of your posts my resistance to collecting a force for myself is getting less and less...

Hi christopher, I feel I've made good progress with my prussian army now. I can see it in size in the boxes now, I've got my landwehr from Dan so once I turn them into my own that will be a good day at to completing the army as much as I would like.

Thanks Ben, that's really kind of you buddy! I would agree on the regular infantry uniform however there is also something very special on the style of the uniform, covered shako and the colour combinations that I find really appealing. The upgraded releases of AB Prussians really catch my imagination. I wish fighting 15's stocked more of the current releases. The 28mm producers calpe and Perry have done the big boys beautifully too!!!

Paulalba said...

Sorry Ru I missed your green question. It's the foundry Chasseur colours if I remember. I'll check when I'm home. I think it would be possible to miss the middle shade for a stronger contrast and still get away with it.

They work really well for Schutzen. Think my first Schutzen are a bit dark

Gotta say, Paul, You have done a rippa job on those Prussians! You've got me off my arse all inspired to paint my AB Leib Hussars which have sat on my self undercoated in white for about 10 years now.

Looking forward to more of your work

Regards

Matt

Thanks Matt, that's really kind of you to say buddy! Get stuck into them and they will be finished before you know it!!!! I'm trying to be more positive in my painting and keeping note if every little bit it painting, conversions prep I do on a little calendar plus set myself some small targets for the year and it's worked well.
