Russian LG Cossack WIP2

A wee bit of progress on my Sho Boki Leib Garde Cossacks . . .

That's 9 done and 15 to go although I'm just putting the finishing highlights on another 2 at the moment.

Lovely little figures with very colourful uniforms on AB horses. I'm look forward to having these guys finished off!

I broke my own rule by starting a command figure before the troopers are finished. However it was nice to be distracted by this wee guy. The guidon isn't perfect but will do fine!

Happy Wargaming!

Thanks Phil, I've got a few noted down that are different enough to stand out when mixed up.

Cheers Rupert,
I'll pop them in an email to you when I'm back from work. Not all perfect but work fine for me.

Thanks. Always did my own guesswork on horse colours which worked well but recently picked up the coat d'arms horse tones set - the roan's good but the bay's toy-town Orange!

Yeah your right with the CdA, I picked them up a few years back. Some nice colours in the set but not for intended horse shades. The Roan is handy for an undertone for white socks etc on warm coloured horses.

2 easy and effective horse colours and both Vallejo. Vallejo cavalry brown mixed with black brings a cracking chestnut shade and depending on how dark you start can be a lovely dark or light chestnut and can be either done with a lighter mane or dark with dark light or no socks. Also Vallejo burnt cadmium red mixed with black gives a rich liver chestnut in 15mm and works best with the dark mane and socks. I'll add the Vallejo numbers if needed.

I have another chestnut shade I use GW old dwarf flesh as a base with Vallejo 131 added in controlled. This gives the shade of horse similar to the French chasseur a cheval. Nice with light mane and socks, flesh nostril.

Vallejo dark German camo brown as a base with progressive adding flat brown gives a nice brown horse and with a tiny amount of earth brown into the flat brown gives a controlled bronze.

Awesome. Will do some trial and error to see if I can perfect bay - will let you know if I succeed!

Thanks Dean, it helps me out as with iPad pics can't really get good sized pics plus making a video seems faster than making a blog post at times.
