Pavlov Progress

Still slow progress due to lack of time from work but I am almost there with my 1st battlion of Pavlov grenadiers and hopefully should have them finished in a day or 2?
Finished painting and varnishing the figures last night, based them up and sanded them this morning. I'll get the graveyard earth on the bases once the 2nd coat of PVA drys.
Wasn't sure about how to do all the mustaches as all the pics I have seen show the Pavlovs with grey. I think the best way to do them is to paint each pose with different coloured hair and mustache as they will be seperated on the bases giving a unique layout. The Officer here has a head swap as I fancied at least 1 officer with mitre.
I have no idea of the pompom colours for the drummers if they were red or white so I just left them white (if you know better let me know!).
I mentioned before that I had noticed the left over tassles on the cross belt of some of the figures. This is the 1st figure I did and you can see the tassles next to the buckle left over from the regular grenadier figure of the same pose. I also noticed when I was ready to paint that there was 1 more figure pose that had the tassles remaining too (more slashing!).
Another kick started command stand. I converted this officer ages ago and asked for a wee bit of advice with him. He has had a green stuff cuirass and has had it stripped off and now is a regular commander again.
He is going to be jumping over the French gun with a stranded casualty in his way.

que dire? très belles figurines. J'adore ta peinture et les figurines ab miniature sont superbes. J'ai des figurines minifig 15mm mais franchement les ab sont plus belles. A bientôt Christian

Thanks everyone, sorry it has taken me so long to get them done. The mustaches are weird as on a lot if them I ended up 4 shading not including the AP! Sad I know, because I started to dark on some.

Hi, the pompons are white, that the correct.

Very good job.

Really nice work, Paul!

I'm looking forward to the completed command stand! The wounded chap about to be trampled by the callous officers is a nice touch ;-)

Thanks so much for your positive comments. I'm happy how they are coming out as most of them are repaints. I picked most of them up from my buddy Stuart. JP machine Gub painted a lot of his Russians and thankfully they were very lightly painted but still not a virgin surface.

The cavalry command has been a monkey on my back for a while. I gave him a small chest plate and a couple of medals, hat and saddle covers to take him down in rank. Fingers crossed he turns out well!

Those are looking really fine!
Especially the look in their faces and the moustaches are great.

Good luck with finishing them!

Great painting as always, look forward to seeing the Pavlovs based up. Must confess I've never used greenstuff or converted metal figures. I think I had enough of that when I was into 1/72 plastics!

Excellent looking figs as always. Never ceases to amaze me that these are 18mm. Most of the mustached units that I've read about made them all match anyway.

Trying to catch up on the blogosphere this weekend. Sorry for the lack of comments lately.

I'm quite taken with the miniatures, and the stache-job you gave them is just brilliant.
