Mai's sister managed to get through to us on her mobile from the family home after we called. They have managed to gather all the family together in the old family home in V and G subdivision.
Miraculously everyone of the family, aunts uncles, cousins, brothers, sisters, husbands wives, kids survived!!!
They have a little food/ water but it won't last another day. They are going to try and get to the airport for evacuation during the day as its under marshall law. People are trying to gain access to houses to look for food at night.
The airport will be overflowing but as far as we know it is the only point for the relief coming in. Its a small airport.
I'll keep posting if you don't mind.

Hang tight.

Given the scale and ferocity of the storm, words cannot adequately express how we all feel. A great relief to read your wife's family have all survived although appreciated that new hardships and dangers must now be faced. And while our sympathy goes out to all of the injured and families of the deceased, here's hoping that the relief operation will soon kick into top gear for the sake of those who have survived this terrifying example of the power of Mother Nature. In the meantime, good luck to your family (and all who live in that region). Please keep us posted.

I can only echo Davy's comments above. It is a great relief that your family is safe but other hurdles to overcome remain.
Good luck and do keep us posted on your family's situation.

Paul - I've just been catching up on all this. Thank God everyone is your family is ok, but I feel so sorry for those who have suffered at this dreadful time. My heart goes out to them all.
Best wishes

So pleased to hear the news that the family are safe Paul. Just need to get them outta there for now.
That's a relief to hear! Hopefully they can get evacuated or reach aid.
Not every family was that lucky.
Ken
That's great everyone is ok Paul! My very best wishes to you and your family both here and over there in the trying times ahead.
All the best
Christopher
The film reports are horrendous - it's a wonder anyone survived. Good luck and best wishes to all.
Thanks guys, more contact, the relief still isn't getting through and the security is poor. They have no option but to get the women and kits to the airport and hope to get them out.
That's great news Paul. So sorry for all the devastation however wonderful your family are all safe and well. Miraculous.
They are going to take the kits to Cebu on the free flight if they can. Cebu pacific.
Can you believe in a disaster like this Philippine airline are charging 1,800-2,000 pesos a ticket to manila. Bastards!!!
All the aid money being sent and an airline is charging survivors. Get them out of the loop and let more military aircraft come in and out!
P.s. I know tge charge is not much but it is if you have nothing.
Thank goodness they are ok thus far. Let's hope all goes well on their way to Cebu. The resilience of the Filipino people is amazing.
Thanks Craig!
